What you should know before getting your American Well 210

The following content will provide you with the minimum and recommended technical requirements to be aware of and prepared in advance in order to get your American Well 210 up and running when you receive your device(s).

Physical specifications

The American Well 210 can be set upon a tabletop, mounted on a basic cart, or mounted on a cart with a PTZ camera and a vertical lift mechanism.

    NOTE: We recommend that you plug into hospital grade outlet.
  • Rechargeable batteries within the device:
    • Internal (Tablet): 14.8VDC 1880 mAh 27.8 Wh: powers tablet only
    • External (Tablet): 14.8 VDC 1880 mAh 27.8 Wh: adds to tablet battery capacity
    • Internal (Cradle): 14.8 VDC 1880 mAh 27.8 Wh: powers speakers, USB, LAN, and PTZ camera (on PTZ-enabled devices) — dedicated to cradle only.
    • DC Input: 19V, 3A (90W MAX): powers the cradle and tablet, recharges all batteries within the device
    • Battery: Approx. 3 hours
    • Charge time from fully depleted to fully charged is ~3 hours

System architecture

The American Well 210 uses Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise running the American Well 210 application in “assigned access (kiosk)” mode.

A Windows administrator account is available which can be controlled by the customer for Windows administration.

 

Encrypted hard drive

With the American Well 210’s onboard TPM 2.0 module, encrypted hard drive via Windows 10’s BitLocker device encryption is supported.  By default, the American Well 210 ships with this feature disabled.  Customers can enable this feature from the device itself, or from a Windows Group Policy or Mobile Device Management (MDM) tool.

Firewall

We recommend using the following network rules to allow for the appropriate incoming and outgoing traffic, as shown in the tables below. These rules will aid in provisioning, utilizing, and servicing your American Well 210(s). Please supply your network administrator with these details.

Application Standards and Specifications

  • The American Well 210 application embedded in the device is web-based.
    • The solution utilizes standard TCP ports for communications:  80 and 443.
    • Traffic is encrypted using SSL and all content is encrypted.
  • All American Well solutions are tested against W3 standards.
    • An audit trail is documented and stored for every event, including logins and edits to forms.
    • The software may leverage email or SMS to provide notifications to users.

Firewall Whitelist Requirements

The following mandatory firewall permissions are needed for application functionality.

  • Firewall and Domain Permissions:
    • *.avizia.io
    • *.avizia.com

American Well uses these domains for registration control / verification and call connectivity

    • 80
    • 443
    • The firewall must be configured for outbound HTTP/HTTPS requests on the following ports:

Access to Windows 10 environment


If additional network connectivity requirements need to be met it may be necessary to access the Windows 10 environment to gain direct access to the network configuration to install network certificates for example.
